What is MFi?

MFi was first introduced in 2005 as an abbreviation for “Made For iPod”. This certification was a way for Apple to make sure that chargers for iPods would work correctly and safely with their product line.

Since iPods were quickly superseded by iPhone sales, MFi gained an additional meaning: Made for iPhone. Nowadays it is also used as certification for accessoires and chargers for your Apple Watch, AirPods and iPad. An MFi-certified product carries a MFi authentication chip, making sure the product will work with your device.

Are Zens chargers MFi certified?

MFi certification and the official MFI-chip are only given to inspected chargers if they are up to Apple’s standards. This is for instance necessary for Apple Watch chargers or lightning connectors & cables to work correctly with your devices.

iPhones make use of the Qi certification for safety standards when it comes to wireless charging. All Zens Apple Watch chargers and AirPods (V1) lightning chargers are MFi-certified and will work safely with your device.

Always make sure to check if the charger you want to buy is MFi certified.

Our charging docks for AirPods V1 have a MFi-certified lightning connection for your wired charging case. Plus, you can wirelessly charge your iPhone and even your Apple Watch (also MFi-certified). Licensed by Apple, so you are sure your devices are safely charged.

Charging safety with MFi & Qi

MFi-certification is a sign that you can safely purchase and use the wireless charger for your products. Without a MFi certification, your Apple Watch might not even charge correctly.

The Qi certification adds to this by regulating the wireless chargers for your iPhone. All Zens wireless chargers are Qi-compatible and have the latest technology and safety standards. Using chargers that are not Qi certified can heavily damage your battery or devices.
