How does it work?

The principle to charge your smartphone wirelessly is the same as charging your electric toothbrush.

But how can energy be transferred through air from one part to the other? The way wireless charging works is by something which is called magnetic induction.

Learn more about magnetic induction and how wireless charging works on our information page.

Safe and reliable

Is the Qi certification just another marketing trick? Quite the opposite. The Qi certification is governed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The WPC is a group of leading companies that cooperate in continuously defining, maintaining and developing the Qi standard for wireless charging.

As a proud member of the WPC, we are offering wireless chargers with the latest technology and safety standards. With a Zens charger you can always safely charge your device, even at night.

Frequently asked questions

Wireless charging works by something which is called magnetic induction. In inductive charging systems, energy is transferred between coils by a magnetic field via inductive coupling. Read more on how wireless charging works.

How many watts you need mostly depends on what your phone or device can handle and when or how you want to use the charger. Do you want the fastest charger possible to fast charge your device? In most cases a 10W charger or 15W charger will suffice, as the maximum amount of Watts for fast charge is capped by smartphone manufacturers. For Apple Fast Charge this is 7,5W and for Samsung Fast Charge this is 9W. Make sure your phone actually support fast charge such as Apple Fast Charge or Samsung Fast Charge. If you want to charge your device at night, a 5W charger will also suffice.

It might be. Wireless chargers must obey several safety measures. Wireless chargers that are not Qi-certified may not have implemented all mandatory and necessary safety features. As such, they may get hot and damage phones or other products placed on the charger. For example, a metal coin might, if the detection metal objects does not work properly, get very hot and even cause skin burn.

Wireless charging systems must obey a set of rules and regulations related to electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC), sometimes also called “radio disturbance”, and magnetic fields. All Zens products meet these rules and regulations and are Qi-certified. So, is wireless power safe? Yes, all kinds of precautions have been taken to make sure that our wireless chargers are perfectly safe. Always make sure that your wireless charger is Qi-compatible and Qi-certified. This way you can be sure that your wireless charger is safe for use.
